Five-step process
Why does preparation define performance?
True surface quality begins beneath the surface. The microcement system follows five steps, from technical assessment to final quality inspection, and the assessment sets the preparation required. Reinforcement controls the movement that causes cracking in a thin coating. Every edge and joint is inspected before completion.
Technical assessment
Substrate condition, moisture levels, alignment and structural stability are assessed before any work begins. The assessment sets the preparation required.
Surface protection
Surrounding areas and adjacent finishes are protected before application begins.
Reinforcement and structural control
Joint sealing and fibre mesh reinforcement are applied to the substrate to control the movement that causes cracking in a thin coating.
Controlled application
The finish is applied in layers with precision alignment and clean edge detailing. Each coat is assessed before the next begins.
Final quality inspection
The surface is sealed and inspected, including every edge and joint, before completion.
A microcement installation typically takes 3-7 working days and a bathroom 4-6 working days. Larger jobs are confirmed at survey.
